I picked up a new to me TJ a year ago and have been working to upgrade it for overland exploring. Got a couple of pictures to show the changes.
Stock and new to me.
First Upgrade, Piosion Spider Rock Sliders
I had these on my CJ8 and they work great.
We tested them at Evens Creek on this big rock when my son tried to drive over it.
The next thing to arrive was the front bumper, orgininal.
This proved harder to get off than expected, notice tools.
The new one looks better and holds the new M8000 winch. The grey smudge and wear under the left fender are from the trees he happened to hit.
Then the new back bumper arrived, online says it takes 1-3 hours to install, that is a load of crap, I think I am into it for at least 15 hours. Maybe if you had a shop and lift and team of people but for one guy in a garage, it took a while. - Original
The old setup came off easy but the new one was missing 2 essential parts that you need to move forward on the install. The two holes in the middle are supposed to have captive nuts behind them so that you can bolt the bumper to the outer holes. I used string.
Got it most of the way on and had to take a break.
Hard part done with CB mount, 3rd brake light, and License plate mounted. The original bumper and tow hitch held on by 8 bolts, new on by 10.
Last side view.
That's all for now. Other upgrades you can see are the hood High Lift mount, tinted front windows, and relocated morrors for when the top is off.
