So I never really considered myself a knife guy until I saw this post and started looking through my knife collection and realized I might have an issue lol. I am a big Benchmade fan, but I have a few CRKT and Kershaw knifes as well. Most of my knifes have a specific purpose and I have bought them for a specific need. We will go from top to bottom, left to right. The first one is a Benchmade 940-1 Osborne with a carbon fiber handle and reverse tanto w/s90v blade. Next is a Kershaw Misdirect, now while there is a world of difference in price between these two knives I love both of them, yes I'd have the Benchmade over the Kershaw but that's not because the Kershaw is inferior. Bang for buck the Kershaw runs circles around the Benchmade. Both of these knifes are EDC for me Inna "dress" setting like say church or formal occasions. Moving down I have the Benchmade Nimravus tanto, I actually have two of these, the one pictured is in my ditch bag in my truck. I first bought one of these on my first deployment in Iraq over 10years ago, I had it on a leg rig and while I thankfully never had to use it for more than cutting 550cord it was nice to know I had a solid plan C if things went from bad to worse. That knife currently resides in my SAR gear on my vest for use there. I bought this one as a second and because I wanted to tanto tip (vs spear point of the first) for a survival knife -anything you can do with a small knife you can do with a big knife, bug not vice versa. The other is a knife I found out in the field during a training, it's also a Benchmade, a Griptilian. This knife has been one I always take to the field with me and one that I am never really worried about as I didn't buy it and I have no real sentiment attachment for, yet I've never lost it lol On the bottom row is probably the only knife I have that is honestly pretty useless, I only have it for sentiment value because it was one of the first knives I bought with my own money back in highschool. The CRKT KISS, basically a money clip and knife, it's very minimalist and honestly kinda dangerous, but it's never let me down and recently I took it into CRKT to have them sharpen it and they said they would not sharpen it (because they of the design), but instead they gave me a brand new one, zero complaints from me. Another CRKT is the M16-13z, ...if I have to explain why I have this to a bunch of military guys then uhhh well the name should say it all lol. This knife also is in my SAR gear. The CRKT next up is the M16--02z this is another one that CRKT exchanged for me brand new because the original I took in for them to sharpen wouldn't hold an edge so they gave me a new one. This one stays in my truck in my front seat organizer from Duluth Trading Co. (-if you haven't seen these honestly take a look at it, it was a game changer for me www.duluthtrading.com/cab-commander-78072.html ). I keep it there so no matter what I always have a sharp knife I can use for whatever reason I might have. Next in line is a Benchmade Triage Auto. A good friend and LEO introduced me to this knife, and it is truly a EDC. Infact I have two, one also resides in the cab commander next to one of my CAT7s. This knife has a glass punch on it, an additional seatbelt cutter, and the blade is purposely blunt or flattened at the tip to use as a prying tool. The next knife I have is another Benchmade auto this one is from their old HK line, I love it's size and plane blade and I use it as my EDC in the summer time and in shorts weather. The Benchmade Infidel... An awesome knife, yes kinda useless but in a place I can't bring a firearm it's my go-to. The last Benchmade is a Stimulus Auto. I also have a couple of these, one I found in a parking lot at work many years ago, and two others I have bought over the years, honestly this knife has spent more time in my pocket than any other knife. It resided in my pocket all throughout my OIF deployment, and most days of my adult life. This one has had the blade replaced and least twice and once on one of the other ones. Its in my pocket everyday at work, and I use it for everything from cutting open packages to scraping rust off steel beams to see the markings on them... yeah you can now understand the reason for going through so many blades lol. One reason I love Benchmade so much is their lifesharp program, free sharpening, just go into their Oregon City factory and they will sharpen your knife back to a factory edge while you wait -they also have gotten me to buy a few knives that way lol, looking around that showroom and that military discount (30% off)... Man it's a marketing strategy that works! The past knife I EDC is the Victorinox Swiss Classic, again if I have to explain this one well I probably need to explain the spoon and fork to you as well lol.
My HK P2000lem is also a part of my EDC kit but that's for another thread.
As for places I cant carry a kife, let alone a firearm, well I try to stay away from them as much as possible... That means if I have to go someplace like back east or to Texas ect I'm probably driving unless it's not possible. I don't mind flying I just hate the rules. And I avoid California as much as possible.
Circus monkeys could do better work than those idiots.
